The SoftKey collections: complete font lists

The story of SoftKey’s font business, SoftKey’s font empire, reports counts for each collection. These pages publish the lists behind the counts. Every list was built from a surviving disc or floppy image on the Internet Archive, harvested file by file: families are grouped by the internal name tables of the font files themselves, and style counts are the files found on the disc. Nothing here comes from box copy, and the box numbers and the counted contents rarely agree; counted by families, every big disc shrinks to about half its headline.

Each collection page gives the full list and links its dataset. This index is one shelf in our wider census of font CDs.

Kid Fonts and Icons

Kid Fonts & Icons (1995) is small enough to list here in full. The disc is a children’s creativity bundle; its 20 TrueType fonts are 10 designs, each with one variant, all carrying copyright 1993 Vytautas Abraitis and built with Fontographer. The files sit in two folders on the disc, PRIMARY and SECOND, ten files in each.

Three archive items that are not what they claim

Three Internet Archive items filed under SoftKey names do not hold what their labels promise, each verified by byte comparison. The item uploaded as the German KeyFonts Pro 1222 (item softkey_keyfonts_pro) carries a disc image byte-identical to the Key Fonts Plus 1994 CD; the German edition itself is attested only by that item’s inlay scans. The item titled Key Fonts Pro for Windows & Macintosh is the genuine 1993 Pro CD hybrid image and holds no shareware: all 302 files on its Windows session are byte-identical to the selection disc, and its Mac side holds a complete second library. And the item named SoftKey ClickArt 10,000 Fonts is not a SoftKey product at all: it is the ClickArt Fonts 2 CD, 2,638 TrueType files in 845 families, every file byte-identical to the preserved ClickArt Fonts 2 extraction.
