Set Point

A variable font carries its weights and widths inside one file, as sliders called axes. Each round sets the word below at an unknown weight and width in one of five real variable fonts. You get the same font, the same word, and the two sliders. Match the target, lock it in, and the game scores how close you landed, in the font's own axis units. Land inside the tolerance and the streak grows; miss, and the run ends.

How the scoring works

Weight and width run on different scales in every font: Roboto Flex spans weight 100 to 1000 and width 25 to 151, while Cabin spans weight 400 to 700 and width 75 to 100. So the score is relative. Each axis miss counts as a share of that font's whole axis, and the two shares combine into one number. Inside 8 percent combined is a set; inside 2 percent is dead on. The axes themselves are explained in Variable fonts, explained, and the deck is five open variable fonts, subset to the game's one word and served from this page; nothing leaves your browser.
