Font Subsetter

Most fonts carry far more characters than any one project uses, and every extra glyph is weight your visitors download. Subsetting cuts a font down to the characters you choose: keep a full alphabet for a website, or just the letters in a logo. Everything runs in your browser, powered by the HarfBuzz subset engine compiled to WebAssembly, the engine our own five-tool benchmark found most reliable. Your font is never uploaded, and font.io never sees it.

A subset is a new, smaller font file, not a view of the original. Keep your unmodified original safe; a subset cannot grow its character set back. The benchmark behind this tool, Subsetting fonts, measured, shows what each subsetting engine keeps and what it silently drops, and why this page verifies its own output before offering the download.
